Naruto is a manga and anime series that lasted a long time. This series by Masashi Kishimoto focuses on the adventures of Naruto Uzumaki in a world filled with ninjas.

During his journey to become the best ninja, Naruto has met many criminals. While some villains might be easy to forget, some have become the biggest villains in the series. 1. Pain

Basically, Pain was Yahiko's body which was controlled by Nagato. As chairman of Akatsuki, Pain is the strongest of all Akatsuki members. In fact, Pain was able to destroy Konohagakure easily, only to get Naruto's attention.

Being the biggest antagonist in the Naruto series, Pain has a very tragic background. Pain is an orphan who lost his parents to war. Therefore, Pain and his friends created Akatsuki, to bring peace to the world.

2. Itachi Uchiha

Despite playing an antagonist in this series, Itachi is not the villain as he thought. Before joining Akatsuki, Itachi massacred all members of his clan, leaving only Sasuke, the only person who survived the massacre.

Because of this, Sasuke dedicated his life to becoming strong, so strong enough to kill his older brother, Itachi. After Sasuke managed to get his revenge, the audience finally found out the biggest secret Itachi had been keeping.

Itachi did not become evil just for his benefit. Itachi decided to slaughter his clan to avoid civil war. Later, Itachi joined Akatsuki as a spy for Konohagakure. After his death, it was all revealed that Itachi became a criminal simply because he wanted to protect Konohagakure and his sister.

3. Obito Uchiha

Obito Uchiha is Kakashi's former teammate. On a mission, Obito was considered dead after he was hit by a large rock. But in reality, Obito is still alive disguising himself as a member of the Akatsuki named Tobi.

Obito began to turn into a criminal after Rin's death and he assumed that Kakashi was the one responsible for this. However, this was just Madara's trick of getting Obito to join him.

Even though he had created a huge mess, in the end, Obito decided to atone for all his sins after he learned the true truth.[next]

4. Madara Uchiha

There is no doubt that Madara Uchiha is the most influential antagonist in the Naruto world. As the strongest person in the Uchiha clan, Madara was even able to defend against the Five Kage at once.

Madara becomes an interesting villain not only because of his strength, but also because of his ideology. Madara's goal is to create peace in the world, by placing the world in the Infinite Tsukuyomi forever.

5. Orochimaru

Orochimaru was one of the three Legendary Sannin, the strongest ninja of his time. As one of the Legendary Sannin, of course Orochimaru is not an easy criminal to beat. No matter how many times he died, Orochimaru always found a way to come back to life.

Unlike other criminals who want to create world peace, Orochimaru becomes a criminal in order to gain immortality. Throughout his journey to become a villain, Orochimaru has done many crazy experiments to achieve his goal.

Although he had done a lot of bad things, especially to Konohagakure, Orochimaru decided to atone for his sins in the Fourth Shinobi War.
